As part of our exchange here at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, we are expected to give two presentations: one in November to outline our progress and one in December to show our results and conclusions. In our interim presentation today we explained to students of the graduate group project class the operations of our device, the organisation of Biomotion Technologies and our future work.

This was followed by a short period of questions. The main questions that were brought up were about the real-time aspect of the system and how it would judge if someone was more likely to injure their knee. We addressed the first question by stating that it useful for coaches to be able to see at that exact moment what the athletes was doing wrong to produce an adverse knee abduction moment. If they waited any length of time, it may be harder to pin-point the instance of poor technique. Secondly, athletes will be judged to be at high risk if their knee abduction is an outlier. We have defined this as 1 standard deviation from the mean knee abduction moment. This was unclear in this presentation but will be explained in more detail in the final presentation.
