Today, we went to Akihabara - or the part of it colloquially known as the Electric Town - to buy most of the parts for our knee injury prediction device. It is a part of Tokyo that has many streets of small electrical shops. Some sell memory cards, some sell pumps and fan while others sell electronic circuit components.

This is the type of shop we were looking for. With tall columns of resistors and ICs along narrow aisles, usually these shops only have one since they are so small. We bought wireless adaptors to communicate the recorded data via radio waves from the device to a PC. We also got an Ardunio UNO board and Wireless SD Shield on which we will be able to connect all the sensors to be combined and sent to MATLAB. Several force dependent resistors were also purchase so that they could be altered to measure the forces required for our device. If this does not work, we will have to purchase other more expensive ones.

Due to our original choice of 9 DoF Interal Measurement Unit not being available in Japan, we will have to conduct further research before choosing a suitable replacement.
