Our project started proper today with an initial meeting with Professor Miyazaki to decide the topic that we would be researching for the next ten weeks. After considering five different ideas, the group decided, with Prof. Miyazaki's approval, to make the preliminary name of the project "Real-time monitoring of knee mechanics for sports injury prevention".
Essentially, our task is to develop a portable device that can measure the force in the knee while the user is preforming some sort of sporting activity. This is most likely to be running since it can be verified with the motion capture system that the department has. All the data recorded can then be viewed on a smartphone for instant analysis.
